Manchester United chief executive David Gill has confirmed the club are bracing themselves for a busy summer in the transfer market.
Gill is a central figure for United in terms of player trading and contract negotiations, and speaking in the Daily Mail, he admitted it’s going to be a busy summer at Old Trafford. United have several players with contract situations to be discussed, such as Michael Owen and Paul Pogba, while the future of Paul Scholes has also to be decided.
Gill will also be at the forefront in trying to balance the Manchester United squad. Dimitar Berbatov is one of the most high profile names who is expected to leave, while Fergie is also likely to draw up a wish-list of new players he’d like to add to his squad, with the Mail suggesting central midfield and a back up to Patrice Evra are his top priority, and Gill admitted it’s going to be an interesting time for the club.
‘The work goes on all year round but obviously intensifies as we come to the end of the season in terms of players,’ Gill said.
‘There’s various contracts we’ve got to do, we’ll look at some acquisitions and there will be some players who will leave. It’s an interesting time.’
